Help for Boa Vista
Help for Boa Vista is a non-profit association that supports the poorest people in the Cape Verde Islands, especially in Boa Vista, with donations of goods/materials, non-perishable food, or money.
The founders visited Cape Verde for the first time in 2013, specifically Boa Vista, and saw that there were many people who needed help.
Between 2013 and 2017 they visited Boa Vista a few more times and brought donations that were distributed in one of the poorest villages of the island. They later brought a container with more donations that also included supplies for schools and kindergartens. In 2017 they founded this association with the intention of helping these poor people.
Boa Vista is the easternmost island and the third largest of the ten islands of Cape Verde, situated closest to the African continent and the Sahara desert. It is one of the driest and flatest islands in the archipelago.
Most of the population of Boa Vista, are migrants from other islands and the west coast of Africa. It is the island with the largest clandestine neighborhood of Cape Verde and with several deficiencies in health, education, water and energy. That is why the Help for Boa Vista association supports families and children, schools, kindergartens, and the hospital, in cooperation with local residents.
