Boavista, the most beautiful island of Cape Verde

The nature of Boavista is unique: it is the easternmost island of the Cape Verde archipelago, about 500 km from the African continent (Senegal). It has a surface of 630 km2, with a pentagonal shape. Its north-south dimension reaches 31 km, while in the east-west direction it is about 29 km.
It consists of sedimentary rocks with eruptive outcrops in the area of Rabil and Fundo das Figuiras, and are generally quite flat. Pico d’Estancia, with its 390 meters, is the highest point of the island. Between the vegetation the date prevails, a species of palm tree with three or six trunks that leave the same base. Filled with dunes that give it a lunar landscape, the island has 55 km of beautiful beaches with white sand and emerald water, characteristics that make Boavista an exceptional tourist destination.
